1. Who we are

Sieve Talent Ltd (“Sieve”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal data processed through the Sieve platform (the “Platform”), a marketplace connecting businesses with vetted finance professionals. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What data we collect

For Professional Users: name, contact details, postcode and commute preferences, work history and years’ experience, qualifications, systems and skills self-assessment, language ratings, availability, rate expectations, an optional CV, and the results of any skills test or reference check.

For Business Users: business name and type, industry, trading address, main contact details, turnover band, staff headcount, and payment details (processed securely by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers).

We also collect technical data automatically, such as log-in activity and device/browser information, to keep the Platform secure and working properly.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to: create and manage accounts; match Professional Users to relevant searches; run vetting checks; anonymise profiles until a connection is accepted; process payments and Connection Credits; respond to support queries; and improve and secure the Platform. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (running the marketplace), legitimate interests (matching, fraud prevention, service improvement), consent (optional marketing communications), and legal obligation (e.g. tax and accounting records).

4. Who we share your data with

A Professional User’s identifying details are shared with a Business User only once a connection request has been accepted — never before. We also share limited data with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf, including cloud hosting, payment processing, skills-testing/reference-check providers, and customer support tools, each under a data processing agreement. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep account data for as long as an account is active, and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Vetting test results are refreshed periodically (for example, at each retest) rather than kept indefinitely.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict or object to certain processing; request a portable copy of your data; and withdraw consent for marketing at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data properly.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember search preferences, and limited analytics cookies to understand how the Platform is used. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner.

8. International transfers

Where any of our service providers process data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses.

9. Keeping your data secure

We use technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted internal access to identifying candidate data — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No profile is fully de-anonymised without the Professional User’s acceptance of a connection request.

10. Children

Sieve is intended for business use by adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.

12. Contact us
