How Sieve works

From finance brief to direct connection.

Businesses describe the work they need done. Finance professionals describe what they can actually do. Sieve finds where they fit and brings them together directly, with no middleman.

1

Say what you need. Say what you do.

For businesses

Build a finance brief

Describe the role, responsibilities, accounting systems, experience, working pattern, location, availability and budget. Not sure which role you need? Tell us about the work and we will suggest the right finance role.

For finance professionals

Build your profile

Create it yourself or upload a CV to generate a draft you review before publishing. Add your roles, responsibilities, systems, qualifications, sector experience, availability and preferred way of working.

2

Every professional is assessed before they go live.

For businesses

Know what you are looking at

Every professional you see has completed a detailed profile and passed a short online skills assessment. Profiles clearly separate what Sieve has assessed from what the professional has reported themselves, so you always know what each signal means.

For finance professionals

Pass a short skills test

Once your profile is complete, we send you a short online skills assessment for the role level you are applying at. Your profile goes live once you pass. Finance Director and CFO-level roles take a shorter assessment followed by a short structured interview.

3

Sieve does the matching.

For businesses

Understand your matches

Review anonymised profiles ranked by fit. See the evidence behind each match, what has been Sieve-assessed, where information is self-reported, and any important gaps. Compare the professionals you want to explore in a shortlist. Searching and shortlisting is always free.

For finance professionals

Set your preferences and get found

Choose your availability, rate, location and working pattern, and update them any time. When a business brief matches your profile, you receive an anonymised connection request showing what they need and the type of business, without knowing who they are.

4

Stay anonymous until you choose to connect.

Neither side sees names or contact details until a connection request is accepted.

For businesses

Connect using credits

Send an anonymised overview of your requirement to the professionals you want to meet. You see their capability and evidence, but not who they are, until they accept. One credit is reserved for each request and only used if the professional accepts. If they decline or do not respond within 48 hours, the credit goes back to your balance.

For most roles, credits are the only cost. For CFO and Finance Director roles, a fixed success fee normally applies if a connection leads to an engagement. It is well below typical recruitment fees, and during our launch offer it is discounted to £0. See pricing

For finance professionals

Accept what feels right

Businesses see what you can do, not who you are. Each request shows what the business needs, and you are never obliged to respond. Your identity stays private until you accept. It is free for you: no charge to create a profile, take the assessment or receive requests.

5

Take it from there.

For businesses

Carry out your own checks

Once a professional accepts, Sieve releases contact details to both parties. Discuss the opportunity, carry out your own checks and agree any engagement directly.

A match is a starting point, not a guarantee. A strong match means a professional fits your brief, not that they are the right hire. Businesses remain responsible for their own due diligence.

For finance professionals

The conversation is yours

When you accept a request, Sieve shares your contact details with the business and theirs with you. From there, the conversation is yours.
